For stray animals, life may be quite difficult. They are completely exposed to all weather conditions because they have no housing or refuge to go to.

We've heard countless stories about dogs suffering in the cold weather and the kind companies who opened their doors to keep them warm. However, canines are susceptible to the strong heat, and on one particularly hot day, one business believed it was okay to allow a dog inside to cool down.

It was a sweltering 104°F day in Mexico, and a stray dog paid a visit to a local market, where he had been appearing for many days.

"He's been here the last [several] days," a shop staffer told The Dodo. "We presume he was abandoned by his owner." He approached us for assistance."

"We could only provide him food, drink, and some toys from the store that we purchased for with our money."

But on this hot day, they decided to go even further:

They let the dog inside to cool down!

The dog seemed to appreciate the reprieve from the intense heat: he flopped down straight on the aisle floor for a nap.

"We let him in since the weather outside is just dreadful," the cashier explained. "We feel terrible for him, but he appears to enjoy the store."

And the clerks' goodwill spread: a customer named Adolfo Pazzi Ahumada, who was in the store for milk, decided to buy the dog a treat.

"I felt terrible for what the dog had gone through," Adolfo told The Dodo. “But he is now getting the attention he deserves.”

Thank you to this store for welcoming this dog! We know that this simple act of kindness meant the world to this stray.
